i dont have the standalone but it sounds like the same as mod dayZ during night you normally dont see much except if you have full moon. thats kindof the realistic part of it.

try to find a server with a different timezone until you find some nightgoogles or something

if this works similar to the dayZ on arma 2 you just need to join a server with another server time
