Some people have said it only happens on unranked servers, if this is true, why don't we just make the GC servers ranked? There's no reason they have to be unranked is there?

I find it strange that some people get this glitch so often, when it has only happened to me once in the 600+ hours I've played. Maybe it's a combination of button pushes or actions that causes it, and the people that it happens to unknowingly do it frequently.

Well he certainly has a keyboard, mouse, monitor and case. The only problem with what I listed would be if he needed a more powerful PSU. In that case I would recommend trying to save on the mobo. I have all the peripherals already, although I'd be open to suggestions for a keyboard/mouse. Already ...

Does your BIOS recognize it? I would use GParted. Instructions how to install it on a USB: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php Just download tuxboot, select GParted and select your USB flash drive, and install it. Then reboot your computer and boot from your usb drive.
