If I remember correctly for instance, Windows 7 Home Premium has a max limit RAM set to 16GB, whereas Windows Ultimate has no limit. Anyway, no need to go for a 680 on 1080p, I'd say go for the 7970 best bang for the buck.
If you want nVidia go for the 670, but an OC version ofcourse

Playing BF3, listening to music, and running Steam, GPU temp went as high as 84 degrees Celsius, I can only imagine how much more load there is if I am on TS as well.
