Re: Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
You'll probably be more then fine with a high capacity 7200 rpm HDD for recording 30-40 fps at 720p or 1080p. I'm not 100% positive on how much data bandwidth you'll need for anything higher, but there's always tweaking you can do. If you want to do 60fps but your AMD cpu can't do it, then is when ...

Re: Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
The capture card takes the processing load off your cpu, but the HDD is still needed to hold the video as it's captured. You'll still need a decent high capacity HDD with a capture card. Ah. I understand that I need a high capacity HDD. But what I was wondering is if I need to get one tha...

I called you Heiny yesterday, like Heineken beer. Sorry, didn't know how to pronounce it. :P I should start calling him Heiny too. As for my forum name.. I will give a brief language lesson. My name is actually two parts. "Haru" and the "Ky" Haru basically means "...

Re: Battlefield freezing and the solution
Going off of what the other guys have said, try stress testing your CPU and GPU. I know that you can stress test your GPU using FurMark and you can stress test your CPU using Prime95. These software will make your hardware go to 100% usage. If your computer freezes and dies, then hardware might be t...

Re: Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
Just remember that it is a Refurbed HDD. Only get that one if you need the space. Otherwise, 1TB HDDs can be had at the same place for cheaper. Yeh fittyman is right, it's better to get 2 1TB HDD's. One of the fastest 7200rpm HDD is the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB. As far as I know they are aroung 70-...

I'm also quite interested in Twixtor. But it's incredibly expensive... I searched for some information about Twixtor and I foudn that it's software that you use with other editing software. So it's like an extension for video editing sofware. I suggest to get Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere P...

Re: Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
Thanks for the tremendous amount of help guys! So from what I've learned so far.. it doesn't seem like I'll need a top of the line HDD to fulfill my needs. i'll be taking a pretty good look at the HDD you linked, fittyman. Thanks! I'm also quite interested in Twixtor. But it's incredibly expensive...

Re: Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
Do you think 2 TB would be plenty? I mean, that harddrive will be solely for recording videos. Nothing else will be on there other than my projects and captured videos. If you want a good 2TB 7200rpm HDD, get a Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB. Gold awarded from a dutch hardware website, and some s...

Re: Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
I've read that you can estimate your output bitrate with width x height x 3 x fps = bitrate (byte/sec). So for your 60 fps at 1920 x 1080 resolution, that would be ~373.25 mbps. Considering that 2TB drive would be entirely for video footage and completely empty of everything else, you could capture...

Re: Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
Thanks a ton fields! That was some good information and I will look into dxtory.
You said that it takes up huge amounts of space.. Do you think 2 TB would be plenty? I mean, that harddrive will be solely for recording videos. Nothing else will be on there other than my projects and captured videos.

Recommended Software/Hardware for recording gameplay.
Hey guys. I noticed that a lot of the GC members like to record gameplay and cut it up and edit it. I'd like to start doing something like that as well. HOWEVER, I'm wondering what kind of things I need. I currently have an AMD Phenom II X6 @ 3.2ghz. 16 Gigs of RAM at 1600. ASUS GTX 570 500 GB SATA3...
