I think the occulus rift works best, when you sit inside some sort of cockpit.

Cant really help you there, because it seems it looks different to me. I think you have to pay around 50$ to get the game (when its done) and the first basic ship. Depending on your interest to support the game, you can pay for packages which cost more, but include more physical and/or digital value...
