WTF is Standard Battle Time aka SBT

Post by BRUMMIE »

In many instances you will see reference to SBT. SBT = Standard Battle Time. Of course SBT is different for every time-zone but it is also a constant that you can work off of. My SBT is 10:00 or 10am Pacific Standard Time - this is when I battle on Saturday. Yours is probably different. If I want to meet you at Noon my time (PST), then I would refer to SBT+2. If you lived in central Germany or CET time zone, then your SBT would be 19:00 hrs (7pm CET) so for you SBT+2 would be 21:00 hrs. It saves the math. Reference every time to SBT so there is no confusion. If you are still confused please ask for clarification.

Awwww crap....

But otherwise, SBT is much easier to figure out rather than converting PST to GMT.

the SBT is whatever the countdown clock shows. Now, we don't have any agreement yet whther we will let daylight savings affect it.

Of course it affects it. We don't start an hour earlier when the clocks move forward. SBT moves with day light savings. The problem is America changes its clocks 2 weeks earlier than the rest of the world.

On Saturday 3rd & Saturday 10th SBT will be 18:00 GMT, 10:00 PST, 13:00 EST, 19:00 CET.
On Saturday 17th & Saturday 24th SBT will be 18:00 GMT, 09:00 PDT, 12:00 EDT, 19:00 CET.
From Saturday 1st April SBT will be 17:00 GMT, 10:00 PDT, 13:00 EDT, 18:00 BST, 19:00 CEST.

Aah you miss the point it appears my young paddywagon. SBT is what it is in reference to you. So when you say SBT+2, that means whatever SBT is to you on any given day of the year plus two hours. It is presumed that everyone starts the battle together. SBT is a reference to that communal time stamp, not to an antique clock hidden in a small tower in London, or a piece of atomic dust tucked away in Paris.

The question of when the community adapts for time changes is another question altogether.

I know Brummie, but I didnt know we were going with the EU daylight savings so I no longer knew what SBT was in the next few weeks.

Thx Styphon, for putting us on the euro daylight savings time. Easier than the endless debates on which to use.

So my SBT will change twice in the coming few weeks.
On the March17th it will be an hour earlier when I'm usually snoring.
Then SBT will switch back to my standard battle time on April 7th? Correct?

17th and 24th it's an hour earlier for those in the US and Canada. For everyone else there will be no change.

I get different times and dates. Also assuming GC is using the UK daylight savings and not true GMT/UTC.

On Saturday 3rd & Saturday 10th SBT will be 18:00 GMT, 10:00 PST, 13:00 EST, 19:00 CET.
On Saturday 17th & Saturday 24th SBT will be 18:00 GMT, 09:00 11:00 PDT, 12:00 14:00 EDT, 19:00 CET.
From Saturday 1st 31st April March SBT will be 17:00 GMT, 10:00 PDT, 13:00 EDT, 18:00 BST, 19:00 CEST.

Correct?

Yea, sorry. Wasn't paying 100% attention when I wrote that. You're correct.

And if you live in Arizona, and don't observe daylights savings time, it's going to be a lot of fun.
