I watched Django unchained yesterday and its a 10+ movie. Very entertaining and funny at times.

Unfortunately I missed Django and now I have to wait for the blue ray

But fortunately I've seen a German production recently called "Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter" (Our mothers, our fathers - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1883092/?ref_=sr_1) on television and I have to admit that I was quite impressed. Despite the fact that it's 'just' a German TV series (3 parts), the production looks very well made with great actors. The mini-series is about WW2 from a German perspective and in my oppinion it's even better than "Der Untergang" (Downfall).

Yeah django was pretty fun. I like most of Quentin Tarantino movies. But furthermore i like seven psychopaths.

My favorites:

The classics: The Longest Day (1962), Patton (1970), Stalag 17 (1953), Das Boot (1981), The Great Escape (1963), The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Idi i smotri (1985), L'armée des ombres (1969) and Letters from Iwo Jima (2006).

About the human aspect: The Thin Red Line (1998), Au revoir les enfants (1987), Hiroshima, mon amour (1959), Biruma no tategoto (1956), Nobi (1959) and the Ningen no jôken trilogy (1961).

Ooh. Good list. I've seen a lot of newer WWII movies like Saving Private Ryan, Letters from Iwo Jima, and the likes but I haven't seen a lot of the classics like Patton and The Longest Day.

I really enjoyed Letters from Iwo Jima. That is definitely one of my favorite WWII movies.

And just out of curiosity, do you know of any recent movies post 1990s about WWII besides the big ones like Flags of our Fathers/Saving Private Ryan/Enemy at the Gates?

There's The Pianist (2002), Amen. (2002), Mediterraneo (1991), In Darkness (2011), Max Manus (2008), Schindler's List (1993), La vita è bella (1997), Der Untergang (2004), Talvisota (1989), The Grey Zone (2001), Jakob the Liar (1999), Die Fälscher (2007), Saints and Soldiers (2003), Inglourious Basterds (2009), Into the White (2012), Zwartboek (2006), Valkyrie (2008), etc. There's more, but those are the ones I liked the most.

Enemy at the Gates was indeed great, we should have more 'sniper' movies.

I have a friend who's crazy for those movies, I liked it a lot too.

you should see the red thin line if you havent. its one of a kind, and there shall be no more like it,
since terrance malik (e?) passed away. they shot so much footage, so little made it to the movie.

Stalingrad (1993) is supposed to be interesting although I haven't seen all of it (bad captions - it's in German)
Downfall (2004), but I think you mentioned somewhere that you saw it.
