After nearly a year of development and three public beta tests Battlefield 2 v1.50 is ready for release. The update will be released on Tuesday 1st September at 5pm UK, 6pm Europe. Stay tuned for release announcement in the near future!
As part of Update 1.50 we are glad to announce that not only is Highway Tampa now a required install included in the update but Euro Forces (Great Wall, Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen) and Armored Fury (Midnight Sun, Operation Harvest and Operation Road Rage) is now FREE for all Battlefield 2 players. Including the brand new map, Operation Blue Pearl this brings EIGHT new maps that everyone can play and will be added to ranked Battlefield 2 servers world wide. The Booster Pack content is included in the update and has made the file just over 2Gb in size.
The update (1.41 - 1.50) will be released on Tuesday 1st September at 5pm UK, 6pm Europe. North America will be Tuesday 1st September also but adjusted for time zone differences. So at around 9am Pacific. Server files too...
Special Forces still needs to be purchased
As it runs on its own servers we took the decision to include the maps most people would play and thats the ones that work with BF2 Vanilla.
...and still no free SourceCode for Modders...but:

Btw Ash, as PR Devs are going to release the 0.87 after 1.50 is out we should get the 0.87 server files too...prolly you'll get a PM at PR Server Admins forum...

DDO is launching their Mod 9 update that same day, so I'll be torn between the 2. Sidenote, DDO will be going 'Free to play' on Sep 9th.
But I should at least take a few minutes out to get 1.5 and any PR files downloaded to GC servers during that day. I also need to update the PBBans configurations since they just launched new servers in New York.
Gomimin (or whomever) send me a PM from GC late on the 31st, I dont manually log in everyday here at GC anymore. Only when theres news of the elusive 1.5 patch. I think the PM notifications to my email are working... Feel free to send a test PM before then.
Guess I'm a little early. Only thing I saw over at PR is they said not to install 1.5 if you want to still play PR. At least until they get things smoothed out with BF 1.5 and PR .86.
Its out. EA put up a links to external download sites. Guess they were to cheap to even distribute their own patch? Anyways, theres a good number and really dont see a need for GC to mirror whats easily gotten.
haha i fell asleep at quarter to but know i'm DLing the swedish torrent...Did you get the server files, Ash? But please don't install I#m dling the LinuxServer Patch but haven't found a windows one yet...
And when it comes to cheap: there's no offical german DL server named - too bad i know the german ppl don't care about and going to DL like flies and play today...
...another reason to stay unupdated and play PR
