well, that's why you have to sit inside the smoke.

as you see in the last one, it doesn't matter. i didn't move an inch. its simply circles until the smoke wears off and hits anyway.

the last one just demonstrates it the best, but in all the others, it doesn't hit as soon as you the tank leaves the smoke. it continues to circle above the smoke cloud until it fades, and then hits the tank even if it moved.

In one case it seemed like two javelins were fired.

I think that firing at the max jav range can also play a role as the jav hits extremely late. (no proof, though)

i thought that too at first, but you see that in long-range javs i wait until the last second, pop smoke - and instead of hitting the ground it starts circling.

I now noticed the circling, too.
The jav has mistaken you for a chopper AND the smoke for ECM. Everyone can make errors once in a while, i guess...

they smoke is probably just visual decoration.
it functions just as air-vehicle ECM.
it creates a dot for the jav to hit. and it seems it can be all around the vehicle, just like with air vehicles.
if it hits the dot, or if the dot is inside the ground, the jav explodes normally.
but if the decoy dot is above the ground and the jav misses it, it starts circling until the effect wears off.
