I think it would be fitting if I were a pirate. Saw this game a few months ago, didn't understand it. Now seems pretty damn cool after reading a bit more.

No Dogfighting This Year

DFM delayed a few months because they want to do it right for 300000+ people, not a half-assed side attempt at something that won't get used again (or so the reason CR is giving).

After BF4, I'm actually kinda glad.

Some good news though, another hangar patch is coming friday, so hopefully I'll get to see my cutlass up close now

video up! behold gratuitous greycat driving (quite badly), new avenger, gun rack, a deluxe hangar upgrade, and cutlass!!!

phpBB [video]

cutlass notes:
-seems like it's a work in progress still, some broken consoles and such
-can only enter through the rear
-the toilet has a small entry, hope you can aim well....
-there's some bars on the floor of the cockpit that are there because apparently the seats will center themselves in the cockpit, but move to the sides to let you move in and out
-the turret doesn't work yet :(

for some reason it didn't upload in 720p, will see if I can get a better one later

For those who are interested in winning some of the goodies from the Foundry 42 contest, the correct answer is David Warner.
Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die!

I had a recording setting on my program set wrong, hense the black bars on the sides and quality not being that great

I think I liked the business hangar better than the deluxe, the deluxe is really dark. might play with that file switching thing I found on the previous page and go back to business for the time being.

as you've probably noticed in the video, I was having a hard time with some of the guns in the gun rack target practice thing. for those wanting to play around with it:

1) the known working guns are:
-Bulldog repeater
-Omnisky III
-Omnisky VI
-NN-14 Neutron
-9 series longsword
-Behring M3A

2) you have to have the correct weapon mount from the ship you took the weapon from in order to mount it to the gun rack. This is the small circular thing that the gun itself is mounted on (ship or gun rack). I showed I believe the Omnisky VI lasers in my video above as I struggled to find something to mount to the gun, but I have some of the others listed (I believe) on other ships, I just didn't know I had to play around with the mount itself to get them on the gun rack.

3) most of the sounds are either really quiet or don't work at all

4) here's a decent step-by-step to get it up and running:
At the holotable:
Press F to turn it on
Position yourself in front of it (if not already)
Press tab to change to mouse mode (also note you can toggle tab to rotate ships to a more convenient angle)
Under 'ships' category drag a ship to middle
Change to weapons category
Drag a weapon from the ship to the side of the screen (note only some weapons work, more later)
Change back to ship category
Drag the gun mount to the center
Change back to weapon category
Drag the gun from the list on the right onto the mount - if the mount sphere turns red it won't work, green means good
Press F to turn off the holotable - this will commit the gun to the mount (you MUST do this step)

Walk to the right side of the gun mount (where the chair is)
Press F to deploy the chair
Press F on the chair to get into the chair
Aim and shoot things
Press F to get out of the chair

found some really good threads in the forums that compound a lot of known info about in game professions and such really well, here's some links if you want to read up:

Exploration and How Scanning/Radar works
Mining and Salvaging (WIP)
Piracy and Bounty Hunting (WIP)
More Piracy Info (mostly just dev quotes, bad formatting)
Economy and Employment

edit: Here's an interactive star map of what is known right now

Okay dudes. So, I finally took some time to read up a bit and watch some videos and find out what this whole Star Citizen thing is and I have to say, it looks like it has the potential to be really awesome. I'm probably going to dive in and buy a ship and whatnot, but I have some questions for those of you who have been following its development for a while.

What do I gain/lose by pledging sooner vs later?
Is it worth going with say a 300 series over an aurora? Is melting the aurora a pretty simple thing to do if I go with that and decide to upgrade later? Any idea if its worth going with one of the more advanced models i.e. a 325a over a 300i?

BF4C3: TCF - Bronx - Sgt. Maj. || BF4C4: JANUS - Air - Pvt || BF4C5: TA

1) at this point, nothing really. They ended life time insurance on buys about a month ago and haven't announced any intention to bring it back. Just make sure you get a game package that includes alpha/beta access and not just a ship when/if you buy something.

2) I haven't melted anything, but I don't think it's that hard (click melt -> are you sure? yes), get your credits refunded and buy something new.

3) if you have a play style in mind already, and something exists that can uphold said play style, then there's no reason to not get something more specific as it will allow you to do said action right at release with no real need to build anything up or make any modifications. So, if you want to pew pew a lot, a 325a or an Avenger is probably a good call. If you want to explore, a 315p or a Freelancer is probably better than the previous 2. If you have absolutely no idea what you want to do at all but want to be part of alpha/beta, just get the cheapest aurora package and hold on for more information.
