I think that you get access to the alpha/beta if you sign up for it. The first alpha is not combat oriented, it's more about just viewing the cockpit of the ship you bought. I think...........
But the combat alpha is supposed to release later this year. And you can only get access to it by pledging.

Yeah, I was thinking about this earlier, I'm not sure if I want the hassle of never being able to go into high security space. I still want a decent amount of combat though... Maybe if we run pirate baiting missions or something.

Yes but you can buy better ships now (and get lifetime insurance on them). I got a 325a because it's a great ship and even though I may well eventually move onto something bigger, it's still a very good ship to come back to. It wasn't even that much extra.

I think they may provide an option to buy one tonight, however for a cost of $1000... I think we'd struggle. I'd be up for trying to buy one when the game comes out, but right now it's a large investment for something that might not be exactly what we need... although the LTI would be nice...
