Dear new member
The pages regarding BF 2142 do not have to worry you, they are only for our development purposes so you do not need to read the following.
BF2142 CAMPAIGN # 1 RULES
Purpose of this document: 1) To establish a set of rules governing our first and subsequent Campaigns playing Battlefield 2142 at Global Conflict. 2) To define what is expected of our Executives, Administrators, Neutrals, Generals, Officers, NCO’s as well as the rank and file members during the campaign to include responsibilities both in-game and out. 3) To provide a source document enabling any member to access at any time to ensure our Campaign and Battles flow smoothly and effectively, placing the highest emphasis on “Having Fun” without sacrificing organization and efficiency.
Campaign #1 Overview
Each campaign will consist of three phases. 1) Pre-Campaign setup. 2) Campaign Execution. 3) Post Campaign closing.
NOTE: Starting with Campaign # 2, the Voteables will have the option to vary the campaign rules set, with the exception of the GC Community Ground Rules. This WILL be accomplished via the Voteables Forum with direct input from the Generals and their staff as well as the Executives. Executives will maintain an active role through the development of each campaign, but will primarily allow the General’s to run their campaigns. Time frame to solidify and post the rules for each campaign SHALL be completed no-later-than 24 hours prior to the Rank & File Draft.
GC Community Ground Rules
1) All GC community members desiring to participate in the BF2142 Campaign SHALL enlist into and enter the draft via the sign up forum! 2) Groups SHALL be identified and minimized to the max extent possible, but accommodated due to language barriers, friends, etc… All groups SHALL be pre-approved by the Execs and Campaign Generals 3) Execs and Generals SHALL hold a weekly draft to ensure balance is maintained amongst the two teams throughout the campaign to the max extent possible. 4) General/Colonel/Officer/NCO/Executive/Administrator and Neutral Expectations and responsibilities SHALL be posted prior to the nomination/selection process beginning to ensure selected individuals are fully aware of said responsibilities and expectations prior to initiating the campaign.
Pre-Campaign Setup
Overview: Pre-campaign setup shall consist of 1) Generals nomination, selection, and announcement, 2) Colonel Selection and announcement, 3) Application/Approval of each group entering the draft by the Execs, 4) Officer Only Draft, 5) NCO Only Draft, 6) Final Rules Set Published, 7) Rank & File member draft, 8) Post Draft Trades, 9) Weekly Draft of new recruits, 10) Forum Development 11) Squad Member Development/Assignment and 12) Pre-Campaign Scrimmage.
General Selection: Generals are hand selected by the Executive Council with inputs from the GC community as well as the nominees themselves. Generals must be mature, responsible leaders who understand that being a General is more than simply leading a battle twice a week. It is about ensuring what is best for the community and maintaining “having fun” as the top priority during the campaign. Leadership starts from the top down and all gripes and complaints should be addressed via the chain of command in an upward or same level direction. If you are upset and you fail to control your anger/emotions in front of your team and the opposing team, it has a severe negative effect on our community. Thus we hold our Generals and their staff to a higher level of expectations.
Colonel Selection: Generals will have 48 hours to recruit and announce their Colonel request. It is vital that these members be held to the highest standards and understands they will be serving as the team’s commander and leader in the absence of the General. Colonels shall be selected as follows: 1) If the General is a European member then the Colonel must be a North American Member and vice versa, this will ensure a senior leader will be available from both areas of our gaming community. 2) The Colonel candidate will PM the Executive Representative with his desire and willingness to accept the Colonel position. 3) Executives will only disapprove a General’s request if the nomination poses a negative consequence against what the GC community stands for.
Officer Selection: Once the General’s have been announced by the Executives, the General’s will have 1 week to build the foundation of their forums with their Colonel’s (i.e. theme of their Army) and scout out their particular officer’s. After this week is complete, the two Generals will flip a coin to determine who will get first pick in an Officer Only Draft. The winner of the draft will get first pick for his Officer and the Rank & File Draft. The loser of the toss will get first pick of the NCO draft and first attack on the first Main Battle Day.
NCO Selections: 1 week after the Officer Draft, Generals, their Officers and the Execs will conduct a NCO only draft. This 1 week time frame will allow for the Officer’s to develop their relationship with their General for the overall theme and allow the General’s to identify their individual squads. Also, Officer’s will have this time to develop their individual squad forum, develop tactics, scout potential NCO’s and prepare for the induction of their NCO selections. First pick goes to loser of the Officer Selection Coin Toss.
Forum Development: Team and Squad Forums shall be completed prior to Rank & File Draft to ensure a smooth transition of our players onto their respective teams. Why? Because these folks have anxiously been waiting to start playing and all of the work should have been accomplished prior to your first members arriving on team. This is the reason for so much time in-between nomination and draft processes. (See Post Draft Player Assignments for more specific forum setup information.)
Final Rules Set Published: 24 Hours prior to the Rank & File Draft, the Administrators SHALL post the Campaign Rules Set in its final version. Subsequent changes SHALL NOT be allowed unless direct review and approval by the Executives. This will prevent any confusion over what rules are and are not in effect mid-campaign>
Rank & File Draft: 1 week after the NCO Draft, the Final Draft of Rank & File members shall be conducted. Groups: Groups shall be drafted first. NOTE: All groups and group size must be approved by the Executive Council prior to being allowed to enter the draft. Groups shall be limited in size to 3 members per group with an in-active player limit to 1 (i.e. 2 active and 1 in-active members max). Groups will have an equal number of groups to pick from in the draft in order to prevent a group unbalance during the draft. Groups shall be drafted regardless of who they are and if they want to play with another group.
Individuals: Individuals will be picked once the group draft is complete via alternating picks until all draftees are selected. Member’s listed as Active shall be picked first to ensure “Active” players are not unbalanced.
Post Draft Trades: In an effort to facilitate allowing groups and individuals who wish to play together on the same team, we will allow a Post Draft Trade. Once the Rank & File draft is complete, Generals will have 3 days to conduct any post draft trades they wish to do. Any trades, along with a brief reason for the trade, will be submitted for approval by the executives prior to the actual trade occurring. It is not intended for the Execs to be the decision maker for this, rather to be a last “Safety” catch to ensure everyone is in agreement with the trade and to ensure the best interests of GC and our community members is kept in mind. All trades SHALL be completed and accomplished by 10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time on the 3rd day.
Weekly Draft: To aid in balancing the campaign as it progresses, the Generals and the Executives shall conduct a weekly draft every Thursday night. Emphasis shall be put on replacing non-active members with new recruits to keep GC fresh. Note: All members who did not go through the initial campaign draft SHALL be limited in rank to that of SSGT and below. This is to encourage members to enter the draft in future campaigns. Exceptions must be discussed and endorsed by the Executives.
Post Draft Player Assignments:
Squad Composition: Each team shall designate 1 Armored Squad and 1 Air Force Squad. All other squads SHALL become Basic Infantry Squads or the optional Titan Infiltrator/Defense Squads. Names of each squad should be left up to the individual Officer’s and NCO’s running them to allow for a sense of ownership and personalization. They’ve earned it and will continue to earn it throughout the campaign.
Basic Infantry Squads: Members who desire to become a part of a particular Infantry Squad will simply sign up within their respective forums. It is recommended each Squad size be predetermined (i.e. 6 European Members and 6 North American Members) so that an internal unbalance will not arise from too many people signing up for the same squad and both areas of our community are represented within each squad. Application posts should be made and Officers should coordinate amongst themselves when forming their squads versus allowing automatic sign up. Infantrymen and their squads SHALL only operate Jeeps and Transport Ships unless specifically directed otherwise by their High Command. These times should be limited as much as possible to ensure we are not taking away these assets from the Air Force and Armored Squads. Also it is incentive to get people who really want to drive to try out for these positions.
Armored Squads: Armored Squads SHALL hold tryouts before assigning someone as a member. There is a sense of prestige associated with being able to qualify and be accepted into our ranks as an equipment operator. These members should be well versed in the ways of the infantryman in case they are called upon to augment our frontline foot soldiers. They will operate all APC’s, Tanks, and Walkers.
Air Force Squads: BF2 provided more opportunities to fly than BF2142 allows. Most maps only have 1 Attack air asset at best. Therefore it SHALL be mandatory that ALL Air Force members be designated as Warrant Officers and SHALL be limited to a maximum squad size of 6 players (preferably 3 North American and 3 European Members). These are our elite members who are set to dominate the air. They SHALL be responsible for manning anti-air defense aboard the Titan whenever the shields go down and SHALL operate the attack craft.
Titan Infiltrator/Defense Squads: Optional squad recognition would be to designate your Elite Infantrymen as Titan Special Defense Squads and/or Titan Special Infiltrator Squads. This will allow for a more focused mission format for your individual squads. This is not to say each squad must do exactly the same type of mission each time. It is rather to give recognition to a squad who specializes in one or the other and allows the Field Commander to know what he has upon a short notice take over of the battlefield.
Executive Responsibilities: During the Pre-Campaign, Executives will focus primarily on 1) General Selection, 2) Colonel Nomination Approval, 3) Overseeing all Drafts 4) Ensuring each Teams Staff has the support they need, 5) Ensure the Administrators are accomplishing their duties on the website and 6) Making themselves available to the Admins and Team Staff in case they are needed while facilitating, as much as possible, for each team to develop themselves and their campaign.
Administrator Responsibilities: Administrators shall 1) Focus their attention on ensuring each teams Forums are setup well in advance of their selections and providing any technical assistance they may require. 2) Update the Homepage to facilitate our advertising of Campaign #1 and posting the announcements on the homepage as they arise. 3) Select the Campaign map and have it prepared for unveiling 2 weeks prior to the Campaign Execution. 4) Provide a copy of the map to the Neutrals who will maintain a working copy of the campaign map ensuring the “Fog of War” is maintained accordingly.
Neutral Responsibilities: Neutrals will focus their attention primarily on recruiting via public servers and within our own. Assist wherever possible should a need arise. Be prepared to assign all maps to their appropriate position on the campaign map. Neutrals will ultimately be responsible for maintaining the “Fog of War” for both sides.
CAMPAIGN EXECUTION
POST CAMPAIGN (So, what do we do now!)
FINAL NOTES
Miscellaneous Stuff Yet to Add above!
Executives will focus their efforts into making themselves available should the two General’s be unable to work out an issue professionally and respectfully between them and/or there is not a clearly defined rule to remedy the situation. Essentially, they will be hands off unless they are called upon and/or a situation is clearly getting out of hand or going against the core values of the GC Community.
Incentives: Officer Retention: In an effort to encourage our community members to step up to a leadership role for Camapaign #2, all General, Officer and NCO selections will be allowed to keep their ranked in-game character from Campaign #1 as a reward for taking on the roles of a leader. As a leader, they are supposed to be our more experienced, battle-hardened members. Thus they should be afforded the previous campaign upgrades. All other members shall create a new character and start with zero unlocks for Campaign #2.
