I made a direct copy of the desktop icon I had and also redid it the way mentioned above. Still it doesn't seem to change the resolution in game.

not did it trigger the shader thingy

Thnaks for the tip, I read and did change the line in the video file - interestingly enough it is changed back once I start the game 8O magic. Stupid computers!

Btw what is the highest possible resolution BF2 is showing for you guys in the Video settings, mine shows 1360x1024@60Hz.

1280x1024, which is what I use. I have a 23" widescreen format LG Flatron. Seems to work for me.

The interesting thing is, when I change my monitor back to my other 17'' monitor I can select settings up to 1900 whatsoever.

and the 22'' that is definitely doing more than the resolution I mentioned above.
I am sort of confused now.

I just tried mine at its native resolution of 1680x1050 using the target line approach - it definetly changed in game (i think it cut some of the screen and the mini-map was too big for my liking), however the video options still showed it set at 1280x1024. Strange. I'm also curious as to why I don't have a 1360x1024 option.

The driver (CD) for the monitor tells windows what resolutions the monitor can handle. LCD usually are limited in resolutions and only look great in a couple. You can check what resolutions windows says you can use by looking at your display control panel.

right, it says I can use 1680 x1050. And this is what I have set it to do.

What strikes me is that I do not see the resolutions in the BF2 Video menu that I do when switching to my old 17'' screen - which could display a way lower resolution but here the game showed the high resotions also.
