Anyone got experience with NAS?
Has anyone got any experience with a NAS home storage and cloud system. I'm thinking of building my own but am not too clued up on it in terms of hardware, OS, setup and utilities I will need to run it.

Use various NAS solutions at work. I personally just recommend, as mack says, getting some Synology RAID.

I have a old 2 disk version of that. Extremely nice software to handle all kinds of stuff. Can recommend.Mack wrote:synolgy +2 or 4 disks https://www.synology.com/en-uk/products/DS415play

okay thanks for the responses. I was leaning more toward building one my self as it would be cheaper its just the whole fuss with being able to make it as energy efficient as possible without having to turn it off manually etc. Along with which OS to install for me to get the best features but we shall see. Need to save up a bit before I do actually get one though.

Again I did it myself and it works fine, basically the most important thing to consider is the more terabytes you have the more RAM you need. General rule of thumb when building your own NAS 1 TB of storage = 1 GB RAMMONGO_abaday wrote:okay thanks for the responses.
