Sure...I can...but I'll need some info first>

1. What type of image (Image format)
2. What program do you use?

We'll start from there...

1. must be a .bmp, .gif, .png or a .jpg image file.

2. You must have it uploaded to a server somewhere, we don't store image files, like every other forum you have been to.

3. You then use the address of that image and surround it with the bbcode brackets and img code. I.E.

Code: Select all

[img]http://www.comcast.net\homepage\images\battlefield.jpg[/img]
I use the server space allocated by my ISP for some of mine and another picture server that my bike club has running to show off their moto's. There are free ones as well, just have to ask your mates here or do a browser search to find em.

Also: In the area used for formatting your posts here in the forum, right next to the format box is the words "bbcode" off to the lower left. Click on that and it will open a very comprehensive help page for using bbcode for all kinds of things. Good knowledge and worth the time to read it, you will use it in almost every forum you become a member of.

For image hosting, just use Imageshack

O.K.

You can download images from the web.

When you right click and save as...they go onto your computer somewhere.

You can use a program (paint, photoshop, Fireworks...whatever) to alter the image...or add text...or add another image and blend them...

Once you are happy with the way it looks and its size, it needs to be hosted somewhere...Imageshack, xs.to...and when you put your image here you will need to copy the code for your images 'place in the web' and copy and paste that into your signature box in your profiles here in the forum.

Maybe you just downloaded a layer and not the image?

Do you have access to a photo editor?

Code: Select all

you copied the url from the wrong box at imageshack. Use the direct link, it will look like the one i have in code above.

I went over there, uploaded the GC gal and came back here to illuminate you, all in less than five mins. Kewl way to link.

You got the wrong link :). Imageshack supplies you with a variety of links, and you need the one that directly links to the image. Notice that with your link, you not only see the picture but also the whole imageshack interface.

What you do is right click on the picture and click "copy image address" (or something along that line, I'm using german firefox so I can't tell you the exact wording). Or you right click on the image and choose "show image"...the page will then reload and only your image will show. The url in the address bar now is the direct link you want.

in your case:
http://img279.imageshack.us/img279/8578 ... sig7gs.gif

instead of

http://img279.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... sig7gs.gif

You might also notice that the second (wrong) link isn't really an image file, but a php page.
