Disabling Origin
EDIT since Battlefield is the only Game we play here a GC we totally depend on EA and their goodwill. Therefore and also because of legal reasons GC does not encourage or support workarounds of EAs DRM structure or overall Origin/Battlelog setup.
Thanks for understanding

Re: Disabling Origin
origin has nothing to do with the BF3 game. its a 3rd party launcher.
there are people who can't start the game because of Origin. this might help them.

Re: Disabling Origin
Origin is owned by EA, who also own BF3. They make it a requirement and part of their Terms and Conditions. It's a breach of their T&C to bypass Origin, therefore Origin is not a 3rd party launcher.Necromancer wrote:origin has nothing to do with the BF3 game. its a 3rd party launcher.

Re: Disabling Origin

We've always enforced them.Necromancer wrote:since when did we start to enforce EA's T&C? do they pay us or something?
Re: Disabling Origin
They don't pay us, but they could crap on us if they wanted to.

Re: Disabling Origin
using FXAA injector / color tweaker, disallowing weapons (no shotguns/c4/etc...), are also violations of EA's T&C.
how can EA crap on us exactly? strip the rank status from our server provider?
how the hell they gonna find us in the first place? they can't even find the bugs in their own software.
its just wierd you stepped in so bluntly, to the point of even editing the post completely, with the claims of "violating EA's T&C" that i've never seen here before.
edit: it doesn't bypass EA's DRM. i don't know why you wrote it, but origin is still required to download the game (where the DRM kicks in), game patches, and DLCs.

Re: Disabling Origin
Necro, there's no reason to make this into a big deal. GC is built entirely around the BF franchise at the moment. There is no reason to risk bad will by publicly posting ways to circumvent their DRM. I understand why people want to avoid Origin, since it sucks, but GC getting a nasty letter over something like this would suck more. Making a good faith effort to avoid piracy of EA/DICE games is just good policy for GC.
Re: Disabling Origin
This is essentially why it was removed. It's better to take this course of action than risk EA taking actions against our community in one form or another.StarfisherEcho wrote:Necro, there's no reason to make this into a big deal. Please don't make a big deal out of this.

Re: Disabling Origin
you seem to know so much about EA's rights, and so little about your own rights.

Our rights on this forum are whatever GC execs/senate want them to be. The Internet is a medium for free speech, but that doesn't give you the right of free speech on every website you visit.

I feel all have been said, Necro if you feel like getting a lecture on EA general terms and conditions and the legal impact of overthrowing DRMs find me on TS next battleday.

Better make sure you enter into a prenuptial agreement ("Ehevertrag") beforehand, might save you some sleepless nights. And luckily I do not do family law - too much carnage involved
