So after fields told me about it, longbow, divine-sneaker and I have bought the game natural selection 2. It is an FPS and RTS mix, where each team has 1 commander controlling the RTS aspect, and up to 11 players who play the FPS aspect.
It actually functions a lot like gc, where 1 guy is "FC"-ing the other players. However, as opposed to GC the game has a lot more RTS elements to it. For example, there are tech trees leading up to better weapons such as shotguns, or even gadgets such as jet-packs. (Also it has aliens)
Having only played pubs so far, I cant really comment on organized play, however the pubs have had an extraordinary amount of teamwork, rivaled only by GC battledays, which is a lot of fun if youre into the organized team play.
The game is played on maps which are about 80% indoors. Each map consists out of seperate rooms which both teams must try and fight over. Once a room is secured, the commander can place a harvester there to acquire more rescources to tech up and give his team an edge over the enemy team. Some rooms also allow for a secondary main base to be constructed. Once 1 team has killed all the enemy teams main command structures, they win.
If you wanna get some more info on the game, I highly suggest you check out total biscuits videos. They are a bit old, but hes playing while also talking about the game with a developer:
