Heya all
I've started to delve into a bit of cosplay. I thought I'd start this thread to show some of what I'm doing and see if anyone else here is interested in this sort of craftwork.
I am currently just starting out building a set of Dark Souls 2 Faraam armour, so far all I have done is acquire materials and screen grabs for referencing. Oh, I also started building the chainmail pieces that will be a part of the armour whilst I wait for the final materials I need to arrive from Amazon!
Here's part of the belt-mail which has taken about a 6 hour chunk out of my weekend

You building the loops from wire?
Looks good. I've wanted to build a Volus for a few years now (not exactly cosplay I know) but never knew quite how to start.
Good luck. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like once it's finished.

Yeah it's been really time consuming making the chainmail from wire, but it's finally paying off after about 8 hours of doing it because I've almost got the full belt piece! I've also made a mannequin of myself out of duct tape and I'm going to stuff it tomorrow. Meet Jerry the mannequin

So it's day 2 of working on my build, I've managed to stuff Jerry and he is now a finished mannequin! Last night I couldn't sleep so I spent a few hours researching images and drawing designs on any scrap of paper that I could find within arms reach; envelopes, scrap card and a label from a pair of pliers all provided adequate substance to draw on. Anyway I scribbled down some basic design for visual cues as most of the ideas are sitting inside my head.
I also ventured out to the hardware store and acquired some safety gear and a hot air gun, which is doubling as heating for the shed I'm working in as it is beginning to get rather chilly out here in the garden.

This thing is pretty hot so yeah I'll have to save it for the summer BBQ's
it's day 3 of the build and I have almost completed the lower abdomen armour, I'm just doing the detailing and then Iit will be ready to paint! I think I'll leave the painting till after I've completed the whole foam process in case I want to add various more details.

Day 4, went out for a drive to pick up some Velcro and acrylic filler/sealant. Unfortunately it started raining so I've been stuck mid painting. Good news is that I managed to get the first coat of primer on before it started raining cats and dogs!

Oh wow, you're really getting far. I hope you nail the helmet, cause its the most iconic piece in ds2.

Oh man, me too, the helmet is the piece I'm the most worried about! I kinda didn't manage to finish much yesterday because I have this problem with really bad lethargy and constant tiredness, but I did manage to put together the two top shoulders and it really adds something to how the armour looks!

So I've been working on the shoulders today, they're almost done, but I also primed the top half of the chest piece during a break in the rain.
