I have finally decided to write down my CD codes to prevent somehting like the CF that happened with my BF2. However, in my luck, I have lost my BF2142 mmanual, and have no idea where it is. Can someone tell me if this code is stored somewhere on my computer, and if it is, how to find it so I can write it down.

Sure it is in your registration........type in regedit.exe and immediately save a copy of your registry. To be safe is always key in the registry.
Then use find tool to locate EA games and or BF2 threads. It will be listed under info I believe. Both BF2 and SF2 will have their numbers listed there.

Thanks Lion
edit: Slight Problem
I have both EA games and Electronic Arts. I can't find what I'm looking for undre EA games, but in Electronic Arts, I found the CD key for BF42, but not the one for SF2 or BF2142. Also, there is no info file in any of them.

Tiberan,
I decided to verify my advice to you while waiting for POE and the big BF patch to download this morning. You are right, they hid the key or are verifying it online when you log on at gay spy.
I have a friend at tech help over at EA. I sent him a note requesting the location of key. If it is on your pc, he will know how to read it. If they found a new way to avoid ch key hacking, stealing and sharing, you will know that as well.
It being Saturday, give em a day or two to mail me back..........OK?

btw: I met this guy back when I wrote the repair procedure for medal of honor installation glitches involving the registry strings that verified it's ownership and default start file locations.........They actually took my paper word for word and made it theirs.......I felt a little prouder, they felt a little richer.........damn!

Actually as luck would have it, I found the BF2142 manual while packing some stuff for vacation on Monday evening. I just today got internet access and realized that I needed to mark this resolved.
Thanks

yay! Glad to hear you found the manual at the end, tiberian

Winter, if you've heard back from EA, I'd love to hear what they had to say

This is the message I sent them and following it is their response to it. If you have played online just once with your installed BF2 game then EA has a record of your cdkey and it is crossreferenced against your BF2 nickname. You will have to provide all the info they list below and it appears that they have no problem looking it up and sending it to you.
So now we know anyways. There is no record of BF2 CDkey in the registry anymore...........I guessed as much when I couldn't find it but it's nice to have it confirmed, eh?

I never had any problems finding the CDkeys in my registry over all the years I played BF1942 and its expansions.
Did they remove that possibility to stop cd pirating or am I looking in the wrong place?
I have BF2 and SF installed now but I am due for a OS replacement and a dynamic upgrade is not possible. I will have to repartition and reformat my drive and there goes my installed game and its current connections to my registry.
Can you help?
