Hello gents,

Maybe your video.con is messed up, rename it and try to start again.

(on my system those two games dont interfere)

it could just be a coincidence ( think i spelt that right)

that BF2 seems to have failed make sure PB and BF2 are upto date

with thier newest patch and PB update.

but you may have to reinstall BF2 i had same problem in past

had to reinstall BF2 sorry that might be your only option.

these days i play both BF2142 and BF2 on the 64 bit windows with no problems.

your motherboard is a very high spec what windows you using.

Ghostly,

I would lean towards the coincidence theory as well. I am playing both games on XP64 OS with no problems at all. Althought the first time I logged onto a server BF2142 froze and I had to use the hard boot procedure to unfreeze it and reboot my pc.

Second time was perfect though.

This happened to a buddy of mine. I think it ended up being caused by the installation of BF2142. It messed up something in the registry. His problem was his BF2 would crash when he joined a server, 2142 would crash also, and he couldn't uninstall either 2142 and BF2. I don't know if this is your prob or not. I think he ended up finding the solution on the EA forums.

Hmm well thx guys,

I willl try some things later on and if it does not work I will reinstall.
But it does suck big time, because I like to play both of them. Ow I got a xp pro 32 bit client on my machine.....
Vista in dual boot but the grafics card drivers won't work well with that so win xp pro it is...

So, you have a partition for each OS, I gather? Jumping back and forth is an awful complicated way to run a gaming pc. The more layers of information that is filling up your registry, the more problems you will inherintly have with running heavy resource hogs like our game here.

If you have to reformat to clean out your registry, May I suggest a cleaner\simpler OS setup my friend?

I run XPpro 64 and have no problems at all with my reliability of the OS, registry or games. I even just got done running an old "Dusk to Dawn" game i've had for years that wouldn't run on Xp Home edition 32 bit version at all.

My only issues seem to be net related. Lost or stalled downloads and builtin lag before I even bounce off my first proxy out there.

I have the beta 2 of Vista that Microsoft gave me to use for a year but I think it's too early to try and use that OS with BF or similar. Too many unanswered questions and motley assortment of codecs is hard to get around for gamers..........Know what I mean?

Roger that............I wrote some of the tech fixes over there for BF42 and Medal of Honor game engines. So at least those fixes are worth the couple of clicks it takes to go from here to there.

I am spending the day.......maybe more.......haha..........learning the ins and outs of BF2142 Titan's and the application of extreme prejudice to the enemy units.

Amazing game really. The walkers are wicked and the EMP strikes are fascinating strategy additions.........Wow!...Image

See ya later.......I'll be the guy in that pod going up right next to ya....
