Bottom Line: Reconfigure your ram. Fill the blue slots first. Should be two of them. Black slots later....should be two of them. If not.....get a new motherboard.......yours is ancient.

Second: Install Win 7 or 8 64 bit. Unfortunately.....Win 8 was only 39.00 until Jan 31. Now its 119.00. I know....I am unhappy I missed the sale as well.

At the least.....reinstall Windows. These days.....looking for software damage is stupid. Just do a dynamic reinstall and move on. Saves your data.......but you will need to reinstall your programs.

Done and done.

Here is my validation.

I mean, this is the only legal version I have my hands on. I think my university offers pretty good software sales, maybe? And I mean maybe I could get a 64 bit, but I don't know if they let me, because I got one a long while back and it only lets me upgrade to newer version of 64 bit Windows which I already have, just not the validation code.

I am willing to pay upward to 50 bucks for a OS.

Then get a Windows Home Premium 64 Bit? That one costs around €80,- over here... But you could ask the university, sometimes they can get it for you for free.

You can use the same code for 32 bit and 64 bit, it just has to be the same edition like professional, home, etc
If you lost or don't have the CD you can download the ISOs here: http://www.w7forums.com/official-window ... 12325.html
And either burn to a DVD or use a USB flash drive (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/mss ... vd_dwnTool)

1) ultimate edition is the best.

2) university student? check if your uni takes part in the MSDN Academic Alliance program. theres a lot of MS stuff for free, including windows 7/8 32/64bit.

That is an Microsoft authorized link to an authorized server. I actually found that link at the Microsoft Win 7 website.

It's legal. They provide digital copies of all Windows 7 versions to allow peeps who lose their dvds or crash the hard drive that their recovery partition is on.

It's all good!
