Firefox YouTube problem

so now I have a new problem!

Can't watch YouTube vids on Friefox (whther it be on the youtube site or embedded on another website, can't watch any of that) they just show up as a black box that does nothing.

I googled the problem and apparently it is correlated with having RealPlayer installed, and it clashes with the adobe flash player, but the problem is I NEVER HAD REALPLAYER.

I tried running it with addons disabled (safe mode) and problem persisted.

Any ideas? Cuz I'd rly like to watch embedded utube vids while browsing the GC site in Friefox.

Keep in mind I am Firefox newbie, treat it like first time user.

You got promoted to "Firefox-pro user"

Have you downloaded (and installed) the latest adobe flash player?
Do other flash videos work?

yep, got the latest flash player, tried vimeo vids just now, isn't a black box but a still picture and can't do anything with it, basically it's like somebody posted a picture, that's it.

Check Tools -> manage content plugin

You should see adobe (for pdf and other) and shockwave plugins for flash.

Can you right click on a flash video and check (or play with) the settings, maybe disable hardware acceleration.

For youtube you can - as a work around - enable the html5 trial https://www.youtube.com/html5

I think this may work.
Go to > Control Panel > Add or remove programs > Uninstall Firefox.exe

Then go to
https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/?hl=es

And download Chrome.

@Necro - DLed that player and installed, nothing changed.

@Joker - Checked plugins, see both of those in there. With the flash video I can't do anything, if I left click anywhere on it nothing happens, if I right click anywhere on it I get the same menu that you get when you right click on a website background. It's basically a picture.

Before resorting to html5 I'd rather find a solution to this, html5 isn't perfect, can't scroll back vids on that one, simple crap like that.

I used IE to DL FF, then I used FF to DL Chrome, oh the irony....

Anyways, browsing with Chrome right now, so far so good, can watch youtube vids normally. And it loads GC site normally.

i had a problem with a browser about 6 months ago.
chrome stopped loading plugins suddenly. i tried everything, including re-installing. nothing.
had to use firefox. after about a month, i re-downloaded chrome (newer build), got the same problem. continued to use firefox.
about two months later, i tried to download chrome again, and this time it worked. can't think of anything that might of triggered it or made it work again.
seems like there are a lot of problems with browsers, but they work most of the time for the majority of people.

googles chromes has the flash plugins build-in and is updated while updating chrome. It solves some problems, but sometimes can cause them as well.

Since I use googles services heavily I am also using chrome most of the time. I still have FF installed, though.

And download Waterfox.
^this, fixed.

Edit: whatever, if you have no problems with Chrome then it's fine plus you don't have to deal w/ using a separate browser for battlelog. It's too slow for me though.

Do you use the "no script-" or any similar Firefox addon, because than you might have to allow some of the blocked websites to be able to see flashmovies.

That also turns off Flash Player.

Chrome is good! (But a pain in the ass if you care a lot about privacy)
