I remember having some fun in the game for a short time. I'd check this out...
I haven't played in months though, there must be a ton of updates to load!?!?

BF2142 is basicly BF2 with some extras. They can even use the BF2 editor to build maps and mods. Whats makes it the game of choice for First Strike is the build in support for walker kinematics. If you remember the AT-ST from BF1942s Galactic Conflict you'll notice the difference ;)

The lates patch is 1.25. 1.40 is still in beta test.

According to the FS Devs they have an kind of agreement with Lucas Arts which allows them to use the official star wars stuff.

I loaded it and played for a while last night. I thought it was well donne and after I got used to some of the weapons it was fun.

You'll need the patch to bring BF2142 to version 1.25. And there is a common error you might get once you load the mod, it tells you the shaders/staticmesh.fx file isn't found. There's a simple fix however, you just need to change shortcut Start In to""C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142", and it should work fine.

played it yesterday, and actually it is the first fun I have had on 2142 since its release back like a year ago. the mod is really well made and the kits are set up nicely IMO.

now, if I only had my joystick hooked up so I wouldn't have gone 2-20 in that x-wing...
woke up this morning, put on my slippers, walked in the kitchen and died
