I thought about doing a WW2 themed day, lol. With no scoped bolt actions and some DMRs (like for squad leaders), some old pistols and things like that
Hgx that would be awesome. I actually played a lot with iron sighted bolt action rifles on pubs. Its hard at first but after a while your aim significantly improves and you get some amazing shots and chat goes crazy.

I felt the opposite of this for half the first map, I think it was Siege of Shanghai, I had no hitreg at all.
Then suddenly, changed weapon from some assault rifle to MTAR21 and I had all the hitreg in the world, it was even fun to play!
For some reason, slow-rpm weapons are really bad if you have high ping but fast-rpm weapons like MTAR21 are amazing!

In my opinion, it has nothing to do with ping. Just watch the two videos below. Everyone that turns a corner will always have the advantage over you, even if you are aiming pixel-perfect at where the guy is going to be, he will still have the advantage because of the big discrepancy between where he actually is and the server sending his location to you. But even with a lower ping the discrepancy is too big as you can see in the video, it doesn't match the value of your ping at all. Which I just find mind-boggling, how can BF4 netcode be so bad. I will always find fair that lower pings get you advantages against people with high ping, just because it's a technical thing, you get information faster and that's it. But in BF4 there's an artificial lag even if you have a 5ms ping, which is just crazy.
At the end of the day BF4 is just all bugged. Even with the occasional dying behind cover, BF3 stills feels much lighter and better to play than BF4. They screwed up big time on the most important aspect of a FPS game. I still hope things will get better in the future. I don't think we would be able to keep a constant attendance if we changed games, Battlefield is still at the top of large-scale multiplayer shooters, at least in what concerns popularity. Just my two cents.
but who gets the advantage when two players are turning one towards the other?
constant attendance? it doesn't look like our TS is exploding with people on battledays as it is. let me just check how many people played last battleday.... 22vs21 on golmud. shanghai was 23vs23 ... similar to the last campaign of BF3.
attendance is pretty low anyway.

Well, it's going to be even lower if we change games in my opinion. That doesn't mean people would not have fun playing other games, I bet 5x5 in CS would be really fun. My point is that it would just reduce our community a lot, and I kind of think the more the merrier for a community to thrive.

O yeah, I met your MTAR quite often that day. Probably half of your hit markers where from me But now I know

swapping games mid campaign shouldn't happen. Swapping games between campaigns (to allow for recruiting drives and other craziness) is another matter that imo should be up for discussion.
It's either that or we give up entirely and pursue a new course, which could mean rolling back to an older BF game, changing games entirely, or just waiting. But definitely not a mid campaign swap.

I thought we were all joking and just throwing out ideas, but nothing serious.
there was discussion of moving to Arma 2 when it released, although it was met with heavy opposition and (obviously) never got past "hey lets look at this game."
Of course, that was when we had a working BF2 with custom maps and mods and working netcode and balanced gameplay.
I'm not speaking for anyone else, and don't take my opinions as the opinions of anyone actually in a senate position or anything. I'm just a (as far as community membership) relatively old fart. But I'm not gonna say I haven't thought about it. Battlefield as far as a tactical teamplay shooter died when Bad Company 2 released as far as I'm concerned, and the only thing that gets anywhere close to the feeling I had with Battlefield 2/1942/2142 is Planetside 2 (which we couldn't exactly switch to).

I was just thinking about the things in BF4 that I find annoying and how we could turn it into a fun experience.
Annoying things:
-crap netcode
-difficulty in spotting/distinguishing foes (not necessarily a bad thing, more of an observation in comparison to previous games)
-active radar missiles, MBT LAW, Staff Shell, active protection
What I would propose:
Start with hardcore settings and make the game as barebones as possible. Since the netcode takes gunskill out of the equation to a pretty significant degree, just give everyone really low health, so it becomes more about squad/team tactics. Play with no minimap, and no HUD, forcing more slow, careful play that is reliant on communication. As for the particular gadgets/perks/weapons I listed, the rockets which lock-on in flight do not properly fit onto the risk-reward spectrum in their current states, and as such, should be removed from the game until properly balanced. And active protection forming a forcefield which can deflect massive barrages is silly, and can act as an "oh crap" button for vehicles caught out of position, which negates effective maneuvers and tactics employed by the attacker.

Same here. As much as I'd like to play a BF3 campaign currently it was more a statement of frustration than a serious suggestion. I still hope the game will be great good enough when the next campaign starts.
